He Only Killed One Guy, What's The Uproar For?
Do you like this story?
Former Tennessee Volunteer and Cleveland Brown wide receiver Donte Stallworth was released from jail after serving 24 days in the hoosegow.
Apparently there has been some uproar by the public over the appearance of the criminal justice system once again giving special accommodations to professional athletes.
But I mean, come on folks, whats the uproar over in this situation? He only killed one guy. Leonard Little and O.J. Simpson killed a heck of a lot more people than Donte ever did. So that has to count for something.
NBCSports reports:He was sentenced to 30 days after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter charges in connection with the death of Mario Reyes, who was killed in a collision with Stallworth's Bentley in March.
I mean come on America, what are you upset about? The guy is going to have a suspended drivers license for the rest of his life. And not to mention he'll be under house arrest for two whole years. Now I don't know about your lifestyle, but before he was incarcerated for this incident, Dante was only making about $5 Million a year, so the house can't be that big. I call that punishment in itself.
The reduction of actual time served to 80 percent of the sentence isn't unusual; many jurisdictions employ similar devices to encourage good behavior while inmates are behind bars.
But while the worst of the consequences have ended for Stallworth, he will be placed on Florida's version of house arrest for two years.
He also will eventually have a meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who has indefinitely suspended Stallworth.
It's sort of like you knocking off a liquor store with a gun, and the police making you sing Happy Birthday as a punishment because you work at Chuckie Cheese, cause everyone loves Chuckie Cheese.
Plaxico, you're next. Step right up and take your knuckle rap. We all like the way you catch a pigskin with your hands on Sundays. Feel free to commit any type of crime you want against us. In the future, we'll try not to be walking on the sidewalk at 5am in the morning next time some football is out there driving. So really, it's not there problem, it's ours.
